Trailblazer in Space

In writing we watched this music video. The video was made by the WWF and sees an unusual astronaut sent into space during the space program of the 1960's as an experiment. 65 years later the astronaut has returned. We wrote a narrative describing the astronaut's experiences.

Here are some of our narratives describing the experiences of the astronaut.

The unusual trailblazer in space

Floating lonely amongst the stars in a tiny rocket lay a wrinkled faced astronaut. The astronaut asleep in his armchair and wearing an American white dusty spacesuit. Stuck in an old capsule for 65 years, deserted. The lonely astronaut was yearning for food, he was thirsty. He had seen many fascinating sites like dazzling and colourful planets, but the astronaut missed his friends and family back on Earth and tiny wet drops slid down his eyes.

For 65 years the unusual astronaut confined in a tiny old capsule. The poor astronaut felt like he was trapped in a tiny shuttle cock. His dry hair touched the top of the dusty capsule. The astronaut looked at the crinkled photo of his buddy and missed him. The tiny capsule spun like a spinning top through the dark galaxy. The American astronaut felt worried because the capsule was spinning and would never stop.

Something sounded like rusty metal being scraped on a wall. The American astronaut was apprehensive he thought “why is the capsule shaking and making weird noises?” Suddenly he saw a familiar sight. Light shining blue water and bushy dark green patterns. The astronaut let out a big smile out he figured out it was where he came from. He was delighted and overjoyed. He shut his eyes and held himself as tight as a knot on a rope.

A wide parachute was deployed from the capsule and landed the astronaut safely on the hard concrete. Ham was glad to be back. But all he could see was brown dusty buildings and white fog. Slowly a tear dripped down the simians bright black eyes……….

Trailblazer in Space

Amongst the stars flew a lonely, forgotten astronaut. He looked old with his white bristles and wrinkled face. From miles away you could still see the hope in his eyes. Wearing the same suit for sixty five years with hardly any food. Just floating around, sleeping whenever he wanted, playing with the controls, a miserable life. His only memory, a picture of a once lost friend. Looking at it made him sadder with every passing second. Watching galaxies floating by, this astronaut didn’t believe he was ever going to see his home ever again. Ham the astronaut an uncertain future ahead of him.

The astronaut was trapped inside a metal space capsule, floating and spinning. To him it was like it was closing in on him, he was so confined. Inside this blue and grey prison there was a panel which constantly reminded him how long he had been alone.

Ham had slowly drifted off to sleep, then there was a blinding light which woke him up. In front of  him was a planet he could hardly recognize. Looking at the picture he finally remembered. HOME! Suddenly the capsule started like an earthquake, zooming through the atmosphere. “It’s worth it” Ham kept chanting in his head. The blue and green planet came closer. He was grinning from ear to ear as he reached towards our planet. Looking up a parachute deployed. As he landed the simian’s smile faded. Looking around at what he used to call home, a tear fell down his face…

Trailblazer in Space

In a space capsule floating miles above Earth sat an astronaut. A frightened forgotten mammal sat above our eyes. In his dusty, wrinkly spacesuit he watched galaxies pass by. He worriedly opened his eyes but there was a glint of hope.

For 65 years he had been trapped in a spinning dark grey, beaker like space capsule with no gravity. Full with blinking light, named buttons and safety equipment.

Finally the day came to go back to an almost forgotten home. He looked outside the capsule and saw a green, blue and brown planet. After a few minutes he realised it was his home. Like a shooting star the space capsule bolted towards the planet. The space capsule shook like a bunch of angry elephants stomping. ‘Woosh’ a gigantic parachute deployed. He safely landed towards the planet and burst out desperate for fresh air. Ham the chimpanzee saved the day, he looked around and a tear ran down his face.

Trailblazer in space

Amongst the stars flew a lonely astronaut. An astronaut who was miserable and disappointed with the people who had put him there. Inside the isolated space capsule he woke up with a glint of hope in his eyes. After 65 years, finally a familiar sight, a relieved smile spread across his face. The wrinkled astronaut who now had leathery skin and spiky grey hair like a bush of stinging nettles looked at the picture of his long lost friend.

Inside the confined space capsule the astronaut was ‘over the moon’ to return home. The capsule looked like a colossal, grey science beaker floating around in space. Forgotten memories came rushing back to him as Earth came into sight.

Soon the capsule came rocketing down to Earth and he thought “I’m finally going home”. Ham the one and only chimpanzee who went into space exited the space capsule onto land. He looked around this new place and a tear ran down his face…
