Raggle Taggle Chook

After reading Raggle-taggle Chook by Alan Bagnall the Loraxes had to decide whether they thought a chicken would make a good pet. Jashil and Bill had different opinions, who do you agree with?

A chicken makes a good pet.

I agree with this statement because chickens lay eggs so you don't have to buy them and if you have too many you can always sell the eggs. Also if your chicken stops laying eggs you can eat it. 

Chickens also eat your leftovers so you don't have any waste going in the bin. Chickens eat lots of grass so you don't have to always cut the grass. Cutting grass with fuel- powered lawn mowers pollutes the environment. 

 Chickens cluck early in the morning waking you up so you won’t be late for work. Clucking can also scare burglars and robbers away so you don't need to have those expensive burglar alarms. 

 Overall I believe a chicken would make a great pet.

A chicken makes a good pet

I disagree with this statement because chickens poop too much and you have to pick it up. Another reason why a chicken is not a good pet is that they leave their fluff everywhere and if you are allergic to it, you might get sick!!

Some people say that chickens make good pets because they lay beautiful eggs, but you can just buy them from the supermarket.

Overall I think chickens don’t make good pets because they wake you up in the middle of the night, they poop too much and may cause allergies.
